INFJs are dedicated, helpful, and principled workers who can be relied on to envision, plan, and carry out complex projects for humanitarian causes. INFJs are typically organized and prefer work that allows them to complete projects in an orderly manner. They are often independent and tend to prefer a quiet environment that allows them the opportunity to fully develop their own thoughts and ideas. Besides, INFJs have extremely high expectations of themselves and sometimes others. The ideal work environment for an INFJ is harmonious, industrious, and oriented to a humanitarian mission, with co-workers who are similarly committed to positive change. The ideal job for a Counselor allows them to use their creativity in an independent, organized environment to develop and implement a vision that is consistent with their personal values. INFJs often pursue expressive careers such as writing, elegant communicators that they are, and author many popular blogs, stories and screenplays. INFJs are clever, and can function in any of these fields, but to be truly happy, they need to be able to exercise their insightfulness and independence, learn and grow alongside the people they are helping, and contribute to the well-being of humanity on a personal level. Guide to INFJ Relationships
For those of you who are familiar with the Myers-Briggs system, that first sentence probably tells you more about me than the rest of this article put together. For those of you who are not, suffice it to say that finding MBTI has reassured me that I am not an alien species, nor should I expect a UFO to come collect me at some point in the future.
After all, idealism can be a positive force when it motivates people to work to end world hunger, save an endangered species, or alleviate the suffering of the homeless in their town. However, when it comes to relationships, it can be a double-edged sword. My Ni means, among other things, that I think in metaphors and images, not words; and my Fe pushes me to maintain harmony and keep the peace, even at great personal cost.
The INFJ needs time alone to read, work at the computer, and putter around the house. Some INFJs need the freedom to take retreats by themselves. On the other hand, the ENFJ is an outgoing person who needs to participate in group activities.
Specifically, we will be looking at the joys of this relationship as well as the struggles this relationship may have. Regardless of the number of similarities and differences, each personality combination will have its unique set of challenges. We will look at each of the 4 preferences individually: Extroversion-Introversion Joys Are attracted by each other’s difference in energy levels.
Extroverts appreciate the calm and steady demeanor of the Introvert, while Introverts enjoy the hearty and bubbly Extrovert. Extrovert enjoys that there is an active listening ear in the Introvert, always ready to listen to his thoughts and rants. Introvert enjoys that the Extrovert takes social leadership in most occasions, connecting them to new friends and people that they otherwise would be too shy to approach. Struggles Extroverts, however, may find that the Introvert is too quiet and communicates too little with nothing to share.
They may feel Introverts are boring, or just disinterested in talking to them. Introverts may find that Extroverts are too loud and talk too much without listening to them.
Understanding INFJs in Relationships and How The INFJ Gets Along With Other Types
As it turns out, Idealists pair best with other idealists. As fellow idealists, the INFJ and ENFP are on the same wavelength in terms of their fondness for new possibilities and their soulful quest for fulfillment and meaning in almost all aspects of their lives. They share similar qualities but also a number of distinct differences. These two types have great chemistry and can potentially form a long lasting and satisfying relationship.
You are a great role model…. September 3, at 1: It takes my breath away and this particular explanation of the INFJ just knocks me over. I deaf and have been for most of my adult life. September 8, at 7: I would be interested in hearing more of your thoughts on being an INFJ and also being deaf for much of your adult life. You may have noticed that I have 25 years of experience in speech-language pathology.
I have wondered how and if the onset of a significant disability like deafness or a neurological event such as stroke or head injury affects psychological type. Please continue to share your comments or you can send them directly to me at annholm comcast. November 1, at 5:
INFJ Love: Inside The Rarest Personality
As I have mentioned before in posts, personality is ONE aspect of being human and your individual make up. Environment, upbringing, birth, health, trauma, life experience, mental or cognitive differences, genetics, beliefs, gender preferences, country of origin Take a free test HERE: The key is to answer as you ARE and not as you would want to be like. It is more of a descriptor of what you value and how you work out of the world in regards to communication and relationships.
One of my closest friends is an ENFP, so I can say that INFJ / ENFP definitely clicks. In some ways, the relationship has a healthier dynamic than INFJ / INFP. With ENFP, I don’t feel the intense emotional connection as with their introverted counterpart, but they are very refreshing, invigorating and we click immediately as well.
The ISTJ likes practical, simple tasks and can make these into a charming date. Studying together, even cleaning their house, etc. However, they may show their affection through jokes or a rare for them to give compliment. Shows their interest through little acts of service: They like dates and relationship experiences that are traditional and where their selflessness is appreciated.
They will likely spend a lot of time asking questions about the other person in order to get a feel for who they are. The INTJ will feel most comfortable in something that engages their intellectual side and allows them to demonstrate their knowledge: The INTJ is not interested in the typical romantic courtship that accompanies relationships; they prefer things to be straightforward, and will typically be blunt about their feelings towards a person if asked.
However, they will probably enjoy teasing their date to make them laugh. Share activities that involve their passions arts are generally a good place to start: This type is generally very good at, and interested in, flirting. They might find themselves on a lot of casual dates without actually knowing it because, they find it difficult to pick up on when other people like them.

In some situations, this impression might be true. Complex as they are, INFJs usually try to live in harmony with other people. INFJs are typically the kind of people who value relationships above all else. They are very compassionate and kind hearted.
INFJ Personality Types and Leadership Different people have different gifts as leaders. Use the knowledge of your Myers-Briggs® personality type to develop insights into how you and your team can function optimally in today’s fast-paced business environment. This week’s blog explores The Introverted-Intuitive-Feeling-Judging (INFJ) personality types and how they can maximize their own.
This can allow them both to go out often together. Too much extraversion between people can lead to a lack of downtime and reflection, however. The ENFP gets energized by people and possibilities. The ESTJ gets energized being around people and prefers to talk out their thoughts instead of internalizing them. They are in tune with the structure and order of their environment and seek to understand it.
Sensing and Intuition A sensor and an intuitive will face some challenges in conversation. The Sensor lives in the concrete world of facts and senses, while the intuitive tends to wonder more about possibilities and what is not immediately recognizable. While these two types may struggle, they may also balance each other out by being able to get things done and also foresee future issues.
INFJs in Love
Most of this is based on my experience and, as such, may not be very generalizable to the population. They are likely to hit it off very well and to become close friends fairly easily, with potential for significant conflict down the road due to communication issues. Both of them are likely to have a warm demeanor and welcome new friendships, although they are friendly in different ways. From my experience, it is difficult to annoy an INFJ unless one is causing group tension or as with any introvert refusing to give them personal space or seeing their need for space as a personal insult.
While the INFJ may prefer a small number of close friends to a large number of casual friends, their Fe tends to adopt an attitude of warmth and a pleasant demeanor towards nearly everyone.
The ENFP and ENTP are thought to be ideal mates because their primary function (iNtuition) is the same as an INFJ though directed differently (extroverted). Their strong Ne function allows them to connect well with an INFJ while still acting as a compliment to their personality type.
A place where we can discuss everyday issues and get I just feel as if I have such an issue INFJ the Rarest of the personality types, is it true??? Who counted those with the infj personality type as only one INFJs are reserved about communication, and often keep their most treasured ideas and insights private. They are oriented to values and connection, and will search for meaning in the information they take in.
They think deeply and often need time to process and evaluate before they are ready to share their ideas. They seek validation and will take the time to appreciate others and their ideas. They are often talented at making connections to bring people together and integrate ideas, values, and human potential. What are INFJs like as partners? In relationships, the INFJ is supportive and guided by a sense of integrity.
The INFJ’s interest in human development applies to their mates as well, and they are encouraging of their partner’s dreams, aspirations, and achievements. INFJs want to maintain harmony in their relationships and are highly motivated to resolve conflicts. They tend to be creative problem-solvers and look for the emotional core of an issue to create a meeting of the minds.
One Night Friend
Everyone may respond to these feelings in different ways. Here is how each personality type responds to their jealous emotions. They can sense if someone is drifting away from them, or if that someone is going behind their back. Because of this the INFJ may become jealous and upset over their significant others actions.
In this episode, Joel and Antonia talk about the book American Nations by author Colin Woodard and how seeing North America through this lens could be another access point for healthy dialog.
They love getting the chance to meet people, encourage them, and take on humanitarian issues. They have a never ending pool of energy, and sometimes struggle when they have to find their more quiet, introspective moments. This is one of the ultimate friends and romantic partners to have. They’ll have a million ideas, are eager to please, and are fast learners. They’re fairly malleable personalities with a wide range of interests. They love falling in love and trying to figure someone out.
This is why INFJ and INTJ personalities are so enticing to them because those two personalities exude a certain amount of mystery and never ending depth. The ENFP is warmhearted wanting to take on the entire world’s problems. If they don’t accomplish everything in one lifetime, they very likely might just figure things out in another lifetime.
INFJ Relationships, Love & Compatibility
The first real conversation I had with my now boyfriend lasted over 3 hours while we and two or three other people some drifted in and out of the conversation talked about nerdy things. They can spend enormous amounts of time with each other without the introverted INFJ getting worn out from socializing or the extroverted ENFP becoming distracted by other people.
INFJs can be are random, spontaneous, off-color, and quick-witted. But mostly in their heads. ENFPs have a reputation for being scattered, flirtatious, impractical, overly enthusiastic, and rule-breaking.
However, this does not necessarily preclude INFJs from finding good compatibility with Ne types (i.e., the ENTP, ENFP, INFP, INTP) as friends, lovers, or both. A primary function of Ne is listening—taking in N information from without.
Dating for the INFJ can be especially challenging. Not because they are tough to get along with. INFJs have arguably the greatest capacity of all the types for depth, love, soulfulness, empathy, and have a strong desire to share their rich inner lives with their significant other. For the INFJ, they almost never date casually or play the field. They have to feel a bond that takes time to cultivate.
But once that bond is established, the INFJ will freely give themselves, heart and mind, to their significant other. Thus, other types tend to be naturally attracted to them—their air of mystery and kind heartedness—and thus, even though they might decide to give up on love, they often find themselves being pursued, and true to their romantic nature, they open back up as time wears on. And once the INFJ finds someone of any type that appreciates them for who they are, the bond experienced between the two is truly a special thing.
Drenth INFJs are outwardly warm and engaging. Due to their extraversion of Feeling Fe , they can readily ingratiate themselves to others. And while forming quick friendships and extensive connections may be the goal for some extraverts, for INFJs, this is not the point at all. Rather, INFJs seek high quality, in-depth relationships.
The INFJ tends to appreciate the ENFP’s optimistic nature, open-mindedness and strong ambition. The ENFP in turn appreciates the INFJ’s grounded attitude, analytical nature and their ability to turn dreams into concrete plans.
They also tend to give information; rather, than hand out directives. They are able to put words into action that others might not be able to. They are very cooperative in the way they advocate, by acting on others behalf. Champions are very vocal Advocates. If they go somewhere new, read a compelling news story, experience anything that shows justice awry, they will adopt themselves as being mouthpieces to enact change.
To verbally advocate for the rights of those who do not have any or little to none. This could be anything from worldwide poverty to tending to the elderly within their community.
